In a small saucepan, heat the plant-based milk over medium heat until warm (but not boiling).
Whisk in the cocoa powder, maple syrup, cinnamon and cayenne until fully combined.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour into mugs and, if desired, top with vegan whipped cream or marshmallows. Sprinkle a little extra cinnamon or cayenne on top for a festive touch.
