Since I typically post about my food, wellness weekends and cooking classes, I figure it’s time to share some things you may not know about me personally.
Most people don’t know that I am Left-handed, was born Blonde and I am Polish. I’m surprised the DMV hasn’t issued me a handicap plate for my car. 😂 No offense to anyone that has one. And no offense to anyone that shares these “attributes” with me. Na Zdrowie! (Polish “cheers”)
I’ve heard more jokes about “me” than I can count. BUT, I feel like I’ve made many a joke-writer wrong as a Polish, Blonde, Left-handed woman.
I had to teach myself how to drive a manual vehicle or “stick shift”. I even taught a few gents how to drive one.
How about utilizing something as simple as a pair of scissors? When I grew up you couldn’t use them with your left hand. So, again, I self-taught myself how to use an every day tool that was nearly foreign to a “Lefty”, “Southpaw”, or the like. The list goes on.
Southpaw definition:
The “American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language” cites the conventional wisdom that the word “southpaw” originated “from the practice in baseball of arranging the diamond with the batter facing East to avoid the afternoon sun. A left-handed pitcher facing West would therefore have his pitching arm toward the south of the diamond.”
I NEVER knew this meaning! Did you?
Though born blonde, I had to go natural about 10 years ago after having an allergic reaction to hair dye. This was after 30 years of colouring, covering the gray as early as my 30’s, having highlights, etc. I am blessed for this present colour.
Lastly, my mom and my dad were both Polish. 🇵🇱 Ta-da! The heritage and traditions of being Polish has warmed many occasions. Wigilia (Polish Christmas Eve) I think IS one of my favorites. This tradition even has carried over to my son’s family.
🤍♥️
None of these are any real handicap for me. I have embraced it all as I overcame the barriers and honestly I truly believe I am more intelligent as a result.
Share with me what you think was a hurdle and how you overcame it. I’m interested.
And I love YOU❣️
I started out several years ago watching Forks Over Knives, decided to “try out” the plant-based meal plan and had shockingly incredible results. I’ve never turned back. I have lost nearly 50 pounds, and that is just one side effect that me, my family, friends and clients have experienced after making the change.
Having been an incredible cook my entire adult life, I started my own personal chef service, NuYu Nourish, to extend my help to others. I interned under a celebrity chef, became a celebrity chef myself and have been expanding my reach and goals ever since! My plan follows strictly and simply those of Dr. Mcdougall, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn.
