It’s Friday time to kick back, relax and enjoy a good movie. But what’s a movie night without the perfect snack? This week’s Friday Faves is something crunchy, savory and oh-so-satisfying.
Crispy Chickpeas!
These roasted chickpeas are the ultimate oil-free plant-based alternative to popcorn—crunchy, flavorful and packed with protein. Plus, you can season them however you like, from classic sea salt to smoky paprika or even a little nutritional yeast for a cheesy twist (without the cheese!).
Quick Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained & rinsed
- 1 tbsp maple syrup or agave (optional for a sweet-savory twist)
- 1 tsp smoked paprika or chili powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp sea salt
- ½ tsp cumin (optional for extra depth)
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Pat chickpeas dry with a towel (the drier, the crispier!).
- Toss chickpeas with your seasonings of choice—no oil needed!
- Spread evenly on the prepared baking sheet and roast for 25-30 minutes, shaking the pan halfway through.
- Let cool slightly before snacking (they get crispier as they cool!).
