
Basic Marinara – Oil Free
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup grated onion
- 6 cloves garlic minced
- 1 - 28 oz. jar or can of San Marzano tomatoes (whole)
- 1 tsp Oregano
- 1 tsp crushed red peppers (optional)
- 1 large sprig of basil
- 6 leaves for garnish (see below)
- Water to keep veggies from sticking
- S/P to taste
- (8 oz shiitake mushrooms slices thin, stems removed - optional)
Instructions
- Sauté onion over medium heat 3 minutes. (using splashes of water to keep them from sticking).
- Add garlic, oregano and crushed peppers and sauté another 2 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes, cover and simmer 30 minutes. Break up the tomatoes w/spoon as you stir occasionally.
- Remove the basil sprig. Stack, roll and slice the fresh basil leaves.
- Serve with your favorite angel hair or spaghetti. (Gluten-free pasta pictured here). Top with basil ribbons and enjoy.
- For a less chunky sauce, immersion blend until desired consistency.
