Welcome to Wellness Wednesday, where we celebrate the small, plant-based changes that can make a big difference in your life! This week, let’s shine a light on ginger—a humble root with incredible health benefits.
Why Ginger?
Ginger has been used for centuries in natural medicine and for good reason! It’s packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that support overall wellness.
Health Benefits of Ginger
- Boosts Immunity: Perfect for keeping colds and flu at bay.
- Aids Digestion: Soothes the stomach and improves gut health.
- Eases Muscle Soreness: Great for post-workout recovery.
- Supports Circulation: Promotes healthy blood flow.
Easy Ways to Enjoy Ginger
- Ginger Tea: Steep fresh ginger slices in hot water with a touch of lemon.
- Cooking Spice: Use it to flavor soups, stir-fries or salad dressings.
- Homemade Ginger Shots: Blend ginger, lemon juice and a little maple syrup for a quick immunity boost!
Soak the peeled and sliced ginger in boiling water the night before. Let it cool down on the countertop overnight. In the morning, strain the water and add fresh lemon juice before drinking it. Enjoy this refreshing drink long before your first cup of tea or coffee—your gut will thank you!
Here’s to embracing the healing power of plants—one root at a time!

I started out several years ago watching Forks Over Knives, decided to “try out” the plant-based meal plan and had shockingly incredible results. I’ve never turned back. I have lost nearly 50 pounds, and that is just one side effect that me, my family, friends and clients have experienced after making the change.
Having been an incredible cook my entire adult life, I started my own personal chef service, NuYu Nourish, to extend my help to others. I interned under a celebrity chef, became a celebrity chef myself and have been expanding my reach and goals ever since! My plan follows strictly and simply those of Dr. Mcdougall, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn.
