Happy Thankful Thursday!
This Thankful Thursday, let’s give a little gratitude to something we often overlook, the orange peel. While most of us enjoy the juicy fruit inside, the peel is packed with nutrients and benefits that deserve a place in your kitchen and wellness routine.
Orange peels are rich in vitamin C, fiber and powerful plant compounds like polyphenols and flavonoids. These can help reduce inflammation, support heart health and improve digestion. The peel also contains essential oils like limonene, which may offer anti-cancer, antibacterial and calming properties.
Before using, be sure to wash the peel thoroughly, ideally with vinegar or baking soda, to remove any pesticides or wax.
Grated orange zest adds a fragrant, citrusy punch to dressings, oatmeal or baked goods. You can also dry the peels and steep them in tea for a soothing, digestion-boosting brew. Or simmer them on the stove with cinnamon sticks and cloves to fill your home with a warm, natural scent.
So next time you’re peeling an orange, don’t toss that vibrant outer layer, it’s bursting with potential and wellness benefits worth being thankful for.
Wishing you a refreshing and flavorful Thankful Thursday!

I started out over 10 years ago watching Forks Over Knives, decided to “try out” the plant-based meal plan and had shockingly incredible results. I’ve never turned back. I have lost nearly 50 pounds, and that is just one side effect that me, my family, friends and clients have experienced after making the change.
Having been an incredible cook my entire adult life, I started my own personal chef service, NuYu Nourish, to extend my help to others. I interned under a celebrity chef, became a celebrity chef myself and have been expanding my reach and goals ever since! My plan follows strictly and simply those of Dr. Mcdougall, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn.
