Grilled Portobello Mushrooms
Large portobello mushrooms marinated in bold sauces like Gochujang, Korean barbecue, Teriyaki or even oil-free Italian dressing, then grilled until tender and smoky.
These gigantic portobello mushrooms are one of the easiest things to throw onto the grill and they absorb marinades beautifully. Each one takes on a completely different personality depending on the sauce you choose.
Gochujang gives them a spicy, savory depth. Korean barbecue sauce brings sweetness and smoky flavor. Teriyaki creates that delicious sweet-salty glaze, while oil-free Italian dressing keeps things bright and light.
Simply marinate the mushrooms for a bit while the grill heats up, then place them directly on the grill over medium-high heat.
Simple Grilling Method
Ingredients~
- 4 large portobello mushrooms
- Gochujang sauce, Korean barbecue sauce, Teriyaki sauce, or oil-free Italian dressing
Instructions~
- Wipe the mushrooms clean and remove the stems if desired.
- Coat the mushrooms generously in your marinade of choice and let sit for about 15–30 minutes.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Place the mushrooms on the grill and cook for about 3–5 minutes per side, until tender with beautiful grill marks and slightly caramelized edges.
- Serve immediately while warm and juicy.
