Good Morning,
Let’s clear up a big myth, carbs aren’t the enemy, especially during menopause. In fact, some women may need more of the right kind of carbs to support energy, mood and hormone balance.
People often think carbs are “bad,” but that’s because they’re thinking of the wrong ones. Whole grains keep the brain gems intact, that’s where the B vitamins, antioxidants, magnesium and fiber live and thrive. Our bodies, especially our brains, run on carbohydrates, it’s their natural source of fuel.
Refined carbs, like sugar and processed snacks, can spike blood sugar and leave you drained. But carbs from whole foods like brown rice, quinoa and potatoes offer steady energy, nourish digestion and help balance hormones through this phase of life.
So, don’t fear the grains, just choose them the way nature intended.

I started out over 10 years ago watching Forks Over Knives, decided to “try out” the plant-based meal plan and had shockingly incredible results. I’ve never turned back. I have lost nearly 50 pounds, and that is just one side effect that me, my family, friends and clients have experienced after making the change.
Having been an incredible cook my entire adult life, I started my own personal chef service, NuYu Nourish, to extend my help to others. I interned under a celebrity chef, became a celebrity chef myself and have been expanding my reach and goals ever since! My plan follows strictly and simply those of Dr. Mcdougall, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn.
