Good Morning,
When we think of menopause, we often focus on hot flashes, mood swings or sleep struggles. But here’s something most people don’t realize, your gut plays a huge role in how your body navigates this transition.
A balanced gut microbiome helps regulate hormones, supports digestion, boosts mood and even improves energy levels. During menopause, when estrogen levels fluctuate, that balance can shift, sometimes leading to bloating, irregularity or unexpected cravings.
The good news? You can support your gut naturally:
- Add fiber-rich vegetables and fermented foods (like sauerkraut).
- Stay hydrated and move regularly.
- Include herbs and spices that aid digestion, cumin, ginger and turmeric are great allies.
- And, of course, listen to your body, it’s always talking.
Small, mindful choices can make a big difference in how you feel through this phase of life.

I started out over 10 years ago watching Forks Over Knives, decided to “try out” the plant-based meal plan and had shockingly incredible results. I’ve never turned back. I have lost nearly 50 pounds, and that is just one side effect that me, my family, friends and clients have experienced after making the change.
Having been an incredible cook my entire adult life, I started my own personal chef service, NuYu Nourish, to extend my help to others. I interned under a celebrity chef, became a celebrity chef myself and have been expanding my reach and goals ever since! My plan follows strictly and simply those of Dr. Mcdougall, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn.
