Have you ever tasted a soup or sauce and wondered how it got such a deep, savory flavor?
Miso might be the secret.
Miso is a fermented soybean paste that adds a rich, savory depth to food with just a small amount. It’s especially useful in whole-food, plant-based cooking when you’re not relying on oil, butter or other heavy ingredients for flavor.
Try stirring a little miso into soups, sauces or dressings or whisk it with a splash of warm water before adding it to your favorite vegetable dishes. A small spoonful can make a surprisingly big difference!
One of my favorite things about cooking is discovering simple ingredients that can completely change the flavor of a dish. Miso is definitely one of those ingredients.
Have you cooked with miso before?

I started out over a decade ago watching Forks Over Knives, decided to “try out” the plant-based meal plan and had shockingly incredible results. I’ve never turned back. I have lost nearly 50 pounds, and that is just one side effect that me, my family, friends and clients have experienced after making the change.
Having been an incredible cook my entire adult life, I started my own personal chef service, NuYu Nourish, to extend my help to others. I interned under a celebrity chef, became a celebrity chef myself and have been expanding my reach and goals ever since! My plan follows strictly and simply those of Dr. Mcdougall, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn.
