Have you ever wondered what the world’s longest-living populations have in common? In the areas known as Blue Zones, people tend to eat mostly whole plant foods such as beans, vegetables, fruits and whole grains, stay active throughout the day, maintain strong social connections and make time for rest and relaxation.

These simple habits can be especially valuable during menopause, when hormonal changes can affect heart health, body composition, bone health, sleep, mood and energy. Plant-rich foods provide fiber and important nutrients that support heart health and healthy weight management, while beans and lentils provide plant protein that can help maintain muscle as we age. Regular movement supports strength, mobility and cardiovascular health, while meaningful relationships, adequate rest and stress management can support emotional well-being during this stage of life.

The good news is that healthy aging doesn’t require extreme diets or complicated routines. Simple, consistent habits can support your health during menopause and for years to come.

Remember, all of my recipes have a PURPOSE and many of them are inspired by the simple, nourishing principles of the Blue Zones.
