Hot flashes are one of the most well-known symptoms of menopause, but many women also notice they become more sensitive to heat in general. A room that once felt comfortable may suddenly seem too warm and even small changes in temperature can leave you feeling overheated.
As estrogen levels naturally decline, your body’s temperature regulation can become more sensitive. While you can’t always prevent these changes, staying well hydrated may help you feel more comfortable. Along with drinking plenty of water, enjoying water-rich fruits and vegetables like watermelon, cucumbers, strawberries, oranges and lettuce is a simple way to support hydration throughout the day.
On especially warm days, lightweight clothing, staying in the shade when possible and keeping refreshing plant-based snacks nearby can also help you stay cool. Small habits can make a noticeable difference in helping you feel your best.
What’s your favorite way to stay cool during the Summer?

I started out over a decade ago watching Forks Over Knives, decided to “try out” the plant-based meal plan and had shockingly incredible results. I’ve never turned back. I have lost nearly 50 pounds, and that is just one side effect that me, my family, friends and clients have experienced after making the change.
Having been an incredible cook my entire adult life, I started my own personal chef service, NuYu Nourish, to extend my help to others. I interned under a celebrity chef, became a celebrity chef myself and have been expanding my reach and goals ever since! My plan follows strictly and simply those of Dr. Mcdougall, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn.
