If you’re looking for ways to make plant-based meals more hearty and satisfying, don’t overlook mushrooms!
Mushrooms bring an incredible savory flavor and substantial texture to meals, making them a wonderful way to create that hearty, meaty quality, without meat.
And there are so many varieties to explore!
Cremini mushrooms are versatile and delicious in everything from pasta and grain bowls to soups and sauces.
Shiitake mushrooms have a rich, savory flavor that can add wonderful depth to stir-fries, soups and sauces.
Oyster mushrooms have a tender, almost meaty texture and are delicious roasted, grilled or added to savory dishes. One Super Bowl Sunday, I even made “cheesesteaks” with them!
Portobello mushrooms are large and substantial, making them perfect for grilling, stuffing or using as the centerpiece of a meal.
One of the things I love about mushrooms is how easily they can take on the flavors of the foods they’re cooked with. Roast them until beautifully browned, add them to a hearty soup or combine them with beans and vegetables for a satisfying meal.
No meat required, just delicious, savory plant-based food!
What’s your favorite way to enjoy mushrooms?

I started out over a decade ago watching Forks Over Knives, decided to “try out” the plant-based meal plan and had shockingly incredible results. I’ve never turned back. I have lost nearly 50 pounds, and that is just one side effect that me, my family, friends and clients have experienced after making the change.
Having been an incredible cook my entire adult life, I started my own personal chef service, NuYu Nourish, to extend my help to others. I interned under a celebrity chef, became a celebrity chef myself and have been expanding my reach and goals ever since! My plan follows strictly and simply those of Dr. Mcdougall, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn.
