Good Morning,

This week, we’re taking a quick look at the “healthy” sweeteners that show up everywhere, Stevia, xylitol and other new-age sugar substitutes. They’re marketed as natural, but here’s what most people never hear:

They’re highly processed.

Commercial Stevia isn’t the leaf in a garden pot, it’s a refined extract made through multiple chemical steps. Xylitol, despite the “birch bark” image, is usually produced through industrial hydrogenation.

And they can actually increase cravings.

Some emerging research shows that when the body tastes sweetness without calories, it may trigger more desire for sugar, something especially challenging for women in menopause.

A better option? Whole-food sweetness.

Dates, raisins, fresh fruit, minimally processed and full of fiber, work with your hormones instead of against them.

A simple shift, but one your body truly feels.
