Welcome to Wellness Wednesday!
Sometimes it’s not about adding more, it’s about removing what you don’t need.
This week’s wellness tip is simple, cooking without oil.
Oil is often seen as harmless (or even healthy), but it’s one of the most calorie-dense ingredients you can use, without adding fiber, vitamins or real nourishment. And the truth is, you don’t actually need it to make food taste good.
With a few small shifts, you can cook in a way that still feels rich, satisfying and full of flavor.
Instead of oil, try:
- Sautéing with a splash of water or vegetable broth
- Roasting vegetables on parchment paper
- Using citrus, herbs, garlic and spices to build flavor
- Blending ingredients like beans or vegetables for natural creaminess
What you’ll notice is that the flavors of the ingredients themselves start to come through more clearly, cleaner, brighter and more balanced.
The takeaway: it’s not about restriction, it’s about intention.
When you focus on whole, plant-based ingredients and simple cooking methods, your meals don’t just taste good, they feel good too.
A small shift that can make a big difference.

I started out over 10 years ago watching Forks Over Knives, decided to “try out” the plant-based meal plan and had shockingly incredible results. I’ve never turned back. I have lost nearly 50 pounds, and that is just one side effect that me, my family, friends and clients have experienced after making the change.
Having been an incredible cook my entire adult life, I started my own personal chef service, NuYu Nourish, to extend my help to others. I interned under a celebrity chef, became a celebrity chef myself and have been expanding my reach and goals ever since! My plan follows strictly and simply those of Dr. Mcdougall, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn.
