For today’s Tasty Tuesday, let’s talk about one of those little flavor upgrades that makes everything taste fancy with almost no effort, my Balsamic Glaze.
A lot of us grab the store-bought version, but most bottled balsamic glazes are loaded with added sugar, thickeners and ingredients you don’t really need. The good news? You can make your own at home using just plain balsamic vinegar and it’s incredibly simple.
All you do is gently simmer about 2 cups (roughly one standard bottle) of balsamic vinegar in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until it reduces and thickens into a glossy glaze. This usually takes about 15–20 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when it coats the back of a spoon and has that slightly syrupy, drizzle-worthy texture. No sugar required, the natural sweetness concentrates as it cooks. Once it’s reduced, you should end up with about ½ to ¾ cup of glaze, which is plenty to keep on hand for drizzling over roasted Brussels sprouts, salads or veggies. Let it cool and store it in a glass jar or container right on the counter or in the fridge.
I’ve been loving this homemade version drizzled over roasted Brussels sprouts, tossed into simple salads or even finished over roasted vegetables for a little tangy depth. It’s one of those easy kitchen tricks that instantly elevates everyday meals without adding anything unnecessary.

I started out over 10 years ago watching Forks Over Knives, decided to “try out” the plant-based meal plan and had shockingly incredible results. I’ve never turned back. I have lost nearly 50 pounds, and that is just one side effect that me, my family, friends and clients have experienced after making the change.
Having been an incredible cook my entire adult life, I started my own personal chef service, NuYu Nourish, to extend my help to others. I interned under a celebrity chef, became a celebrity chef myself and have been expanding my reach and goals ever since! My plan follows strictly and simply those of Dr. Mcdougall, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn.
