Today for Menopause Monday, we’re talking about probiotics and whether they’re simply a wellness trend or something backed by real science.
Recent research and meta-analyses suggest that probiotics may help support certain menopause symptoms, including gut health and overall hormonal balance.
Focus on whole-food probiotics first, like fermented vegetables and traditional fermented foods.
So what exactly are probiotics?
Probiotics are beneficial live microorganisms, often called “good bacteria”, that help support a healthy balance in the gut microbiome. A healthy gut plays an important role in digestion, immune health, inflammation and even hormone regulation.
During menopause, hormonal changes may also influence the gut microbiome, which is one reason researchers are becoming increasingly interested in the connection between gut health and menopause symptoms.
Rather than immediately reaching for supplements, focusing on probiotic-rich foods can be a simple and nourishing place to start. Foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, fermented vegetables, miso and tempeh can all help naturally support beneficial gut bacteria.
As always, consistency matters more than perfection and small daily habits can make a meaningful difference over time.
Wishing everyone a healthy and peaceful Monday afternoon!

I started out over 10 years ago watching Forks Over Knives, decided to “try out” the plant-based meal plan and had shockingly incredible results. I’ve never turned back. I have lost nearly 50 pounds, and that is just one side effect that me, my family, friends and clients have experienced after making the change.
Having been an incredible cook my entire adult life, I started my own personal chef service, NuYu Nourish, to extend my help to others. I interned under a celebrity chef, became a celebrity chef myself and have been expanding my reach and goals ever since! My plan follows strictly and simply those of Dr. Mcdougall, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn.
