Happy Savory Saturday,
When the cool winds of fall arrive, there’s one spice that always seems to slip quietly into the mix, nutmeg. You might think of it in pumpkin pies or holiday cookies, but nutmeg has a savory side too.
In creamy dishes like an au gratin, just a pinch can transform the flavor, giving it that warm, subtle depth that makes you go back for “just one more bite.” It’s earthy, aromatic and powerful, which is why a little goes a long way.
That’s the beauty of nutmeg. It bridges the gap between sweet and savory, making it a true fall kitchen essential. Whether in baked goods, roasted veggies or a cozy casserole, nutmeg is the quiet note that makes the whole dish sing.

I started out over 10 years ago watching Forks Over Knives, decided to “try out” the plant-based meal plan and had shockingly incredible results. I’ve never turned back. I have lost nearly 50 pounds, and that is just one side effect that me, my family, friends and clients have experienced after making the change.
Having been an incredible cook my entire adult life, I started my own personal chef service, NuYu Nourish, to extend my help to others. I interned under a celebrity chef, became a celebrity chef myself and have been expanding my reach and goals ever since! My plan follows strictly and simply those of Dr. Mcdougall, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn.
